During Sunday mornings the A/V Team work behind the scenes to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible for the preacher, leaders, music team and the benefit of the congregation. Without the dedicated team there would be no words for the songs on the screen, no amplification for the musicians and no recordings of the sermons for you to listen back to online.
The team arrives at the Church around 9:15 on a Sunday morning along with the musicians, and work alongside the them to provide any necessary support. During the service, you will see a team member loitering at the back behind the sound desk (accompanied by a trainee A/V team member) making sure that everything is running smoothly and checking that everything can be heard correctly. Then after the service, it’s pack up time for all the equipment.
If you have a passion for technology, music or creativity then we would love to have you on the team. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never worked with a mixing desk or difficult musicians before, it’s really not as daunting as it looks. All the basics can be taught to you in under half an hour and you can help run the A/V under the supervision of an experienced member to make sure nothing blows up.
It’s a genuinely rewarding role in the church, one that often goes unnoticed but is one of the most important. Plus, we have a lot of fun standing at the back pretending to be concentrating.
