By the end of this month, we will have used up all the natural resource that the planet can regenerate this year, that means for the next 5 months, everything that we buy, everything that we consume, everything that we use is unsustainable. If we are to reduce this unsustainable time period, let's be mindful of how much we consume and of the damage that our consumerism often causes. We know that if we shop well, if we buy fewer, better quality items, they will last longer. We don't always need that 'latest thing'. Just one example: globally, we throw away nearly 5.3 billion mobile phones every year. That's 5.5 million people making one tiny decision. Each person's decision builds into a huge problem. Probably the best antidote to consumerism is GRATITUDE, because consumerism thrives on dissatisfaction. So let's practice the discipline of gratitude, being thankful for what we have.
